On the 21st February, Good Samaritan Catholic College held its first sporting carnival of the year.
Beside the glorious pools of Prairiewood Leisure Centre and below a wild and unpredictable sky,
students from our great College joined together to celebrate the one thing we all have in comm, our
competitive spirit at the 2024 Swimming Carnival.
The carnival is definitely one of the year's highlights for students and teachers alike. Whether it was
swimming for competition, or simply for fun, it was incredible to see so many students get in the
water and earn points for their houses.
Even if they didn't swim, contributions were made by all at one of the top moments of the day, the
house cheer competition. The Year 12 leaders led their respective houses through a variety of
chants. It was great to see so many students get involved, cheering as loud as possible so their
house could win and making the HSC class of 2024's last swimming carnival as memorable as
possible.
The day ended with competitive relays and the aptly named 'flamingo race', a novelty event where
the Year 12s had their last chance to swim for their houses. The goal was to push an inflated
flamingo to the other end of the pool in a relay-style competition.
From the cheers echoing through the stands, the thrilling races, to the engaging novelty swimming
events, this day provided an unparalleled opportunity for every student to participate. Amidst the
vibrant atmosphere and the house colours adorning the grandstand, the College community
undoubtedly cherishes the unforgettable memories created at our annual Swimming Carnival.
