Rostrum Voice of Youth Public Speaking Competition Report

Updated: 6 days ago

The Rostrum Voice of Youth Public Speaking competition encourages students to have their say and voices heard on issues that are important to them and that they are passionate about. This year, the topics for the Rostrum Competition were dynamic and allowed students to creatively craft their ideas from topics including ‘Behind the smokescreen’, ‘I care’, ‘Break the cycle’ and ‘From little things….’.

6 students very proudly represented our College and delivered their insightful speeches at St.Patrick’s Catholic College, Campbelltown on Thursday 20th March. The students who participated included;

Junior Division:

Yr 7: Ella Chopra and Ameya Prince

Yr 9: Monique Farrugia

Senior Division:

Yr 10: Grace Bakhos

Yr 11: Evelyn Jaison

Yr 12: Sanjna Sristi

A special congratulations to Ella Chopra from Yr 7 for achieving 1st place in the Junior Division and progressing to the next round of the Rostrum Competition in May. She will deliver her 6 minute speech on the topic 'I care' and then face the challenge of delivering a 3 minute impromptu speech in which competitors will only have 15 minutes preparation time allocated to them. A big challenge ahead, but we believe in you and are right behind you Ella! Best of luck!

A big thank you to Yr 12 Oratory Leader Sanjna Sristi for her guidance, time, support and leadership of the Rostrum Student Team. Her dedication, commitment and years of Oratory experience were an asset to our team!

We look forward to the next stage of the Rostrum Competition which will be held in May at St.Gregory’s College, Campbelltown.
