Inspiring Tomorrow's Innovators


On Tuesday, the 10th October, 10 students across Years 9, 10, and 11/12, accompanied by Ms Rechlin and Ms Backhouse attended the STEAMS (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, sports) Inspire Seminar at Fairfield Community Youth Centre. The seminar was organised by EduTech Australia, a digital education organisation that is committed to fostering collaboration and creativity. The goal of the seminar was to inspire, empower, innovate, educate, and celebrate women in STEAMS.


Our students had the opportunity to hear from a number of guest speakers, including:


Professor Manjula Devi Sharma: Director of the STEM Teacher Enrichment Academy, Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney

Dai Le: Independent Federal Member for Fowler (First Vietnamese Women), 100 most influential Australian women (2014)

Eman Soliman: Founder and CEO of EduTech Australia, multi-award winning entrepreneur, Social Inclusion Ambassador for Australia, Women in Tech Global, Chairwoman and founder of Education4ALL Not For Profit Organisation, Australian National and NSW State Jet Ski Champion (2013-2018), Women Racing Advocate (2016-2018)

Lisa Walker: CEO of National Community Care, Author, Multi-Awards Winner Entrepreneur

Natashia Telfer: Co-founder and director of National Community Care

Dr Saria Younas: Entrepreneur, International Speaker, TEDx Speaker, Best-Selling Author, Philanthropist


The guest speakers shared their varying experiences in their respective occupations, and spoke about challenges and obstacles that they had to overcome in order to achieve success. At the conclusion of each panel, students were able to ask questions and gain valuable advice from qualified individuals. Overall, the seminar was an extremely beneficial experience, which offered valuable advice to inspiring students to pursue their aspirations.
