In Term Four 2024, Year 11 Economics and Year 10 Commerce Students were given the opportunity to participate in the University of New South Wales Step-Up Program.
The UNSW School of Economics facilitates the Step-Up Program and the initiative aims to provide high school students the opportunity to further their economic and financial literacy by engaging with the rich, immersive and academically rigorous learning environment provided by Playconomics. Playconomics is a course based on a video game, a first worldwide, and a core part of several undergraduate and postgraduate UNSW courses in Economics, Business, Engineering and Medicine.
The Step-Up version of Playconomics teaches Principles of Economics by allowing students to explore economic models at their own pace and learn about economics by experiencing it.
Additionally, the Step-Up program awarded monetary prizes for students who succeeded in the game. I extend my congratulations to the following students for their success in the Step-Up Program:
Evelyn Jaison
Trisha Kaura
Chloe Gadjos
Emily Butt
Aarav Maharaj
Kevin Sivan

Each of these students were awarded a monetary prize for their success.
I would like to thank Ms Ilic for the time and effort she dedicated to this initiative.
We encourage all Year 11 Economics and Year 10 Commerce students to participate in the Step-Up Program in 2025.
Ms Emma Pender
Assistant HSIE Coordinator
