On Friday, March 21st, Year 9 students from Good Samaritan ventured to Bonnie Vale Wetlands for an engaging educational experience. The day was filled with activities that allowed us to immerse in the diverse ecosystems of the wetlands. One of the highlights was a guided walk through the wetlands, where we learned about the different plants and animals that live there.

We also participated in hands-on activities such as dip-net fishing and a crab survey / quadrat assessment. Dip-net fishing allowed us to catch and examine local sea species, helping us gather important information about how healthy the wetland is. Additionally, a crab catching activity using tools called quadrats in the mangroves enabled us to further study the living things there. These interactive experiences not only deepened our understanding of biomes but also gave us a sense of responsibility towards protecting the environment and sustainability.
