In Term 1, Week 8, we celebrated Harmony Week with a range of exciting activities that brought together the entire school community.

One of the highlights of the week was the Hail Mary or Our Father said in a different language. This helped to showcase the diversity of our school community, with students from all grades reciting the prayer in their native languages. After the Angelus was played at midday, the prayer was spoken to the whole school community.
The regular school bell at recess and lunch was also changed to showcase music from the cultural backgrounds of Good Samaritan students.
The cultural dances that took place throughout the week were another highlight. Students from different cultural backgrounds performed traditional dances, showcasing their unique styles and customs. It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to learn more about different cultures and appreciate the beauty of their traditions.
On Wednesday, we had a cultural BBQ during lunchtime. It was a delicious way to experience different cuisines from around the world, and raise money for Project Compassion. The aromas of chevapi, Italian sausages and chicken kebabs filled the air, and the school courtyard was buzzing with excitement as students and teachers gathered to try new foods, share stories about their cultural backgrounds, and view the cultural performance in the P-Block.

Harmony Week is a wonderful event in our school calendar. It provides an opportunity for students and staff members to come together, celebrate our diversity, and promote inclusivity. Our Good Samaritan community will be all the richer if we remember to celebrate everything that Harmony Week promotes throughout the whole course of the year.
I would like to thank all of the students and teachers that performed, volunteered and helped out in the lead up to and during Harmony Week. We look forward to celebrating Harmony Week again in 2026!!
